Ford Supports Veterans
Ford has long history of supporting the military, dating as far back as 1919, when Henry Ford began to hire disabled veterans returning from World War I. During WWII, we repurposed facilities to make much-needed military equipment and today, we actively recruit Veterans for career opportunities and our Veteran Network Group offers a supportive community.

Rosie the Riveter
Rosie the Riveter, the muscle-flexing woman exclaiming “We Can Do It” in the famous World War II poster, was inspired by a Ford employee at Ford’s Willow Run bomber plant named Rose Will Monroe. She has become an icon not only for women who kept the U.S. factories rolling during wartime, but for all women of strength and determination.
Disabled American Veterans (DAV®)
Ford’s support for Disabled American Veterans (DAV®) spans nearly 100 years. The relationship began when Henry Ford provided Model Ts so DAV members could attend their annual convention. Today, Ford continues to provide funding and vehicle donations to help transport veterans to their medical appointments.

Established in 2007, the Veteran Network Group is one of 10 employee resource groups within the company. Forged from the unbreakable bond of military service, VETNG is a supportive resource for employees who are U.S. military Veterans. -
Blue Star Families
Blue Star Families builds supportive communities to address the challenges of military life. Using groundbreaking research, they create innovative programs that enhance family life, help find jobs, provide caregivers with peer support and connect families with their civilian neighbors. Support will be given through our online store, where Ford will donate its profits from the Proud to Honor merchandise sales to benefit Blue Star Families’ ongoing programs. -
Army PaYS
We’re proud to have signed the Army Partnership for Your Success (PaYS) Agreement. This agreement means Ford guarantees an interview to soldiers transitioning between their military service and civilian employment. -
DAV (Disabled American Veterans)
DAV is the oldest veterans’ advocacy and assistance group in the country, and it helps more than 700,000 disabled American military veterans get access to health care each year. A loyal friend of theirs since 1922, Ford continues its support with scholarships, initiatives that help wounded military members at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and vehicle donations to the organization’s transportation network.
